When I was in high school, one of my favorite English teachers came into class and wrote the following sentence on the board.
“There’s rain in everybody’s life.”
It made a deep impression on me. My father had just passed away a few years ago and those words gave me a tremendous relief that I was not alone in my pain.
Over time, I have learned to not be so afraid of the dark or uncertainty that comes my way.
The unknown does feel scary. Feelings of anxiety do arise. In fact when it gets incredibly hard, I allow myself to stop and let that breath I was unconscious of holding out.
Over time, I have come to trust and do see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I’ve not always lived this way but this has been helpful for my life journey.
So don’t resist the rain.
Flowers do emerge eventually.
So please keep going.
