I See The Light (Lyrics)

“I see the light” is a song from the Disney movie, “Tangled”.

It highlights the characters’ journey of self-discovery and the realization that true love can help them overcome their fears and insecurities.  I’ve only seen the trailer but the title of this song, “I see the light” and its lyrics is enough to inspire this entry.

Lyrics

All those days watching from the windowsAll those years outside looking inAll that time never even knowingJust how blind I’ve beenNow I’m here, blinking in the starlightNow I’m here, suddenly I seeStanding here, it’s all so clearI’m where I’m meant to be
And at last I see the lightAnd it’s like the fog has liftedAnd at last I see the lightAnd it’s like the sky is newAnd it’s warm and real and brightAnd the world has somehow shiftedAll at once everything looks differentNow that I see you
All those days chasing down a daydreamAll those years living in a blurAll that time, never truly seeingThings the way they wereNow she’s here, shining in the starlightNow she’s here, suddenly I knowIf she’s here, it’s crystal clearI’m where I’m meant to go
And at last I see the light
And it’s like the fog has lifted
And at last I see the light
And it’s like the sky is new
And it’s warm and real and brightAnd the world has somehow shiftedAll at once, everything is differentNow that I see you
Now that I see you

A word for the brave soul

We tend to avoid the dark.  Life is already difficult.  However life has a funny way of teaching us stuff – the real good stuff.   As author Madeleine L’Engle puts it, one may have to know darkness first before we can appreciate the light.

It hurts, feels scary or even annoying when we have to confront our own darkness.  But it’s really okay to be study our shadows.  It’s the place where our deepest fears, doubts, and vulnerabilities show up. There’s no need to shoo these guests away.  Our fears challenge us to confront our inner selves and grow in ways we never thought possible.

Madeleine L'Engle quote
“It is possible to suffer and despair an entire lifetime and still not give up the art of laughter.” Madeleine L’Engle

The Art of Laughter Amid Adversity

Madeleine L’Engle’s words remind us that even in the face of suffering and despair, there is an art to finding laughter and joy.

Life’s challenges can be overwhelming, but they do not have to define us.

Instead, we can choose to see the beauty in small moments, to find humor in unexpected places, and to let the light of laughter pierce through the darkness.

Resilience and joy can really coexist.
